How UCAS points work
The UCAS tariff converts qualifications into a single points score so universities can compare applicants holding different qualifications. A full A-Level is worth between 16 and 56 points depending on grade.
Most universities make offers in grades rather than points — an offer of AAB is more common than an offer of 136 points. Points matter most for courses that accept a mix of qualification types, and in Clearing.
T-Levels are graded separately: 92.6% of T-Level students achieved a pass or above in 2026, and 68.8% achieved merit or better.
