Britain's Statistics, Made Real
BritClock is a free, independent website that tracks over 500 UK statistics in real time. Every counter on this site — from the national debt to knife crime offences to NHS waiting lists — is calculated from official annual data published by the UK government and its agencies, including the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Home Office, NHS England, HM Treasury, and the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
Rather than presenting static tables of last year's figures, BritClock converts annual totals into per-second rates that tick forward continuously. The effect is to make Britain's largest social challenges viscerally tangible: you can watch the UK debt clock tick and the national debt grow in pounds per second, see how many knife crimes have occurred since you opened the page, or track how many people have joined the NHS waiting list today.
All figures are clearly labelled as statistical estimates based on official annual publications — they are not live recorded data feeds. Our full methodology is published so you can see exactly how every counter is calculated, which source it draws from, and the year the data was last updated.
The site covers 19 categories of UK life: population and demographics, crime and justice, the economy, cost of living, the NHS, housing, immigration, environment, work and employment, education, transport, food and agriculture, personal finance, welfare, lifestyle and health, digital and tech, courts, defence, and more.
Beyond the live counters, BritClock publishes in-depth editorial analysis of the UK's biggest challenges. Our articles on knife crime, NHS waiting lists, national debt and the cost of living crisis combine data, context and timeline to explain not just what the numbers are, but why they matter.
